Concur.com rethink, redesign rebuild

We just finished the final push up of the new Concur.com site. This project was few months in the works with a bunch of extra help. Zaaz Creative did the design and helped out with some of the development.

The project started with a fresh Drupal 6 core, in a fresh SVN repository. I set up SVN post commit hooks so when a developer made a commit our staging server was also auto updated. This was super awesome and made co-development very easy. This also allowed our content teams to work on the sites content as we were pushing up code.

Solutions Suggestions V2, Concur Client Central

Solution Suggestions is where Concur weighs customer ideas and implements the most popular ones. We built the Portal from scratch last year and came back this year to tighten up the UI and provide more sorting options. Like message center the UI loads up from a single image sprite and all form data passes via ajax. One of the cool part about this portal is the immediate user feedback we get as users comment via suggestions. Overall a huge upgrade and our customers love the transparency & accountability that the portal provides.

Message Center, Concur Client Central

Message Center is deployed! After many design revisions and hours of development we are finally live. I wanted the design to allow the user to touch any part of the support site from their homepage. The design uses a center panel that toggles for each of the right links. Individual messages open in a modal window. Performance wise the UI is light and loads fast utilizing a single sprite of images.

Wimra Redesign

Just wrapped up the redesign of the Wimra.org site. The new site features a Hero module on the homepage new side blocks and updated event calendar.

The shell was designed in illustrator then refined a few times until we got all of the content right. We then coded up the pages to work in the existing custom ASP content management system. A big improvement for a great organization.

Foundation Roots, Drupal ready to build on.

The Foundation is new fitness revolution started by Peter Park and Eric Goodman. The site and design needed to be ready for growth and viewable on mobile phones. We figured out a pretty cool jQuery trick to swap the sites custom flash player to iPhone formatted video files. Pretty cool trick that works great. We used Drupal 6 to allow for easy growth.

Noxcuses Fitness, Small scale Drupal

Noxcuses Fitness site was a ground up redesign. The old site had poor search rankings and was not editable by the client. We rebuilt the site with a fresh new look to coincide with their expansion in to a new facility. The site today is updated by the staff and has a new blog and newsletter in the works.

Shadow Screen Productions, Repurpose, Migrate, Expand

ShadowScreen Productions is a media rich site built on Drupal 6. This was fun project to convert their aging non flexible flash based site in to easy to manage, search friendly Drupal site. We spent a lot of time researching how to stream the best quality video on a small business budget. We ended up building a custom flash player and streaming the files from Mosso's content delivery network (CDN). The site heavily uses CCK, node reference to tie clip nodes to directors and films.

Concur Technologies

I have been a full time Web Designer / Developer at concur for the past two years. Upon starting I built out a Drupal based site infrastructure for all our marketing sites. After we got all the sites moved in to a CMS (Drupal 5) content management became so much easier for our team to delegate. We now have over 20 localized sites running on Drupal. The Concur sites have been constantly evolving to improve user experience and to stay fresh.
